What is an Artpark?

The park represents elements of four world cultures in North and South America, Africa and Scandinavia.

Who is building the park?

A local group called "50 Women with a Vision" has endeavored to change abandoned lots into community spaces.

Ownership of this lot was signed over to the community for use as a park.

Who will use the park?

The park will be open to all community members, families and school children.

Who will pay for the park?

The money will be raised through donations and grants. Volunteers will install and decorate many of the items.

How Can You Help?

Donations needed to purchase:

  • Plant materials and trees
  • Building materials
  • Fencing
  • Walkway materials
  • Boulders, gravel and sand
  • Playground equipment
  • Professional trade labor
  • Plumbing and electrical work

Volunteers needed for:

  • Building benches
  • Painting murals
  • Planting
  • Building huts and structures
  • Installing seating around stage
  • Placing bounders

All donors' names will be posted in the park along with the names of community members who made a difference.

Installation Phases

Suggested Phase 1 Items:

Central water feature, all plumbing and electrical wiring installed, center stage and all pathways.

Suggested Phase 2 Items:

Play structure in southwest corner, sod house tool shed, dray "streams" and sand beds, boulders, tiotem pole climbers, seating logs for stage, trees and benches.

Suggested Phase 3 Items:

Aztec village walls, long house structures, rondavel structures, final planting beds, vegetable beds, fences and lampposts.
